MSSA, LISW, SAP, CFRC (Ohio)Therapist
Many people come to a counselor not knowing what to expect. The hardest part about coming to counseling is being willing to open up to an outside person about your most significant struggles and stressors in life. Opening up to a counselor means getting unbiased support and feedback to empower you to make the best decisions for yourself and/or your family. I aim to foster your healing, grow your self-confidence, and improve your self-image.
I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 2002 from Baldwin Wallace College and my Master's degree in Social Science Administration in 2003 from Case Western Reserve University. I am also a licensed SAP professional trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My passion for social work began in healthcare, where I gained 13 years of experience working in hospitals and Emergency Departments and, finally, outpatient dialysis clinics. My time spent in healthcare allowed me to serve clients dealing with trauma, grief and loss, chronic illness, mental health issues, adjustment issues, and substance abuse challenges.
I am compassionate and accepting. I also believe in getting to the heart of the issues and in finding practical solutions. I support my clients while also challenging each one to try new behaviors and grow. Therapy is hard work, but it is worth it!
