Hi! My name is Kaycie Churchill! I am the new school social worker for Berea-Midpark High School. I am incredibly excited and look forward to working with this school! I am a Licensed Social Worker and have been in the field for 5 years. I work with individuals of all ages. I earned my BA in Social Work from Akron University and earned a Masters in Social Work with a specialty in Mental Health Disorders and Substance Abuse from The Ohio State University. My preferred pronouns are she/her.
I have experience working in several different fields throughout the past five years. I have worked at Stella Maris in the detox unit, where I became very knowledgeable about addiction and how to help those who struggle with it. I have experience in school-based therapy with OhioGuidestone as I spent the school year of 2021-2022 working with children who struggle with anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems. For the past 3 years, I have worked for the National Suicide Hotline, providing ongoing 24/7 emotional support. This job has allowed me to see a plethora of different diagnoses and taught me how to work with several different communities. I have specialized in crisis work and how to meet people where they are in order to provide effective services. While doing crisis work, I also worked in private practice telehealth therapy.
I have discovered that working with children and helping them grow into strong, independent, and caring individuals is part of my purpose, and I cannot wait to work with you! Talking openly with someone about our problems can be really hard. My goal is for you to always feel safe and heard as we dive into places of the mind that you may never have explored. By taking this journey with you, I hope to work together to discover the unhelpful and negative thinking patterns that often lead us to where we are today. It is important to understand where these thoughts are coming from so that we can begin to make the changes we want to see in our lives.
I’m so glad you landed here! Sometimes we don’t know how to ask for help or what that process looks like. I promise to meet you exactly where you are at and help you get to where you want to be. Throughout therapy, I aim to foster a realistic but encouraging environment so that everyone feels heard and understood. I hope to see you soon!
